GDI met with representatives from the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) to discuss the current status of the Initiative and to explore options for possible collaboration. The discussions focused on how green development certification would faciliate private sector financing of biodiversity action on the ground and the need to test this approach and share lessons learned with Parties to the CBD.

The representatives expressed interest in seeing the Initiative move forward and agreed to explore opportunities for continued collaboration both with respect to the development of international policy related to biodiversity finance and in the implementation of a pilot phase to test the GDI approach.
